Exports and quotas

What counts as an export, monthly limits per tier, the UTC reset, the export dialog, every format and what's inside the ZIP.

Designing in Pegboard Maker is unlimited. What your tier limits is exports: downloads of print files and cutting outlines.

What counts as an export

One export = one successful download of 3MF, STL (on its own or as a ZIP) or SVG cutting outlines from the export dialog, whatever it contains: a single 3MF, a ZIP with twenty plates, a set of STL files or the outlines of your inserts. Exporting an accessory counts the same way.

These are not exports and are never limited:

  • designing, previewing and changing settings,
  • saving, renaming and duplicating projects,
  • downloading a project as .json or a backup of all projects,
  • downloading the SVG · assembly map with its drilling guide — the map is free, however often you download it (it also comes inside the ZIP of every multi-piece export).

The export is recorded just before the download starts. If a download fails and you retry it straight away, it is not counted twice.

  • Quotas reset on the 1st of every month at 00:00 UTC — that is 01:00 or 02:00 in Central Europe, depending on daylight saving, and the evening of the last day of the month in the Americas.
  • Unused exports do not roll over.
  • Upgrading takes effect immediately: the new limit applies to the current month, and exports you already used still count.

You can always see where you stand: the exports meter in the app’s top bar, the Exports this month card on the dashboard and Account → Usage all show exports used, the limit and the reset date.

When you reach the limit

The export button tells you the limit is reached and when it resets. You can keep designing and saving; exports come back on the 1st, or right away if you redeem an upgrade code (Account → Redeem an upgrade code).

The export dialog

Open it with Export in the top bar (Ctrl + E, ⌘ + E on a Mac). It has three parts:

  • Format — see the table below. The dialog remembers your last choice.
  • Pieces — All pieces, or Selection to export only the piece or tile selected in the viewport (for example to reprint one piece). Export only this in the Selection tab opens the dialog with the selection already chosen.
  • Summary — the number of pieces, plates and filaments, the estimated filament weight, a warning for any piece larger than your bed, and how many exports you have left.

Export & download records the export (except for the free assembly map) and generates the files in your browser; large boards can take a minute. The success screen lists every file with its size, any warnings, and tips for your slicer.

Formats

Format Best for What you get
3MF · Bambu Studio / OrcaSlicer (recommended) Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, other 3MF tools Multi-colour 3MF: one object per piece, one part per colour, filament slots already assigned. One file per plate.
3MF · PrusaSlicer PrusaSlicer 2.9 The same, in PrusaSlicer’s own layout, with the colour volumes mapped to extruders. One file per plate.
STL · one file per part Any slicer One binary STL per part and piece, all parts of a piece sharing one frame; you assign the colours.
SVG · cutting outlines Laser cutters, cutting plotters, hand cutting 1:1 outlines in millimetres for the inserts of shaped-panel tiles set to Insert. Only offered when the design has such tiles. Counts as an export.
SVG · assembly map Planning, assembly and drilling A front view with piece labels, seams, anchors, separators, dimensions and the filament list, plus the drilling guide: every anchor row as a level line with its height from the bottom and top edges, and each anchor’s distance from the left edge. Free — it doesn’t use an export.

Import instructions for each slicer: Multi-colour and slicer import. How to use the drilling guide: Mounting guide.

What’s inside the ZIP

When an export has more than one file, it arrives as one ZIP named after your project. Accessory exports always arrive as a ZIP, even with a single 3MF, so the clip assembly steps travel with the files:

  • README.txt — the files and what they are, print notes, the filament table (slot, colour, hex code, approximate grams, use), the plates and their pieces, assembly notes (for accessories: the clip assembly steps, pin lengths and clip print tips; with built-in clips, the print notes with the supports and how to hang it) and any warnings. In English or Spanish, like the app.
  • The print files — one 3MF per plate, or the STL set.
  • …-assembly.svg — the assembly map with the drilling guide, for 3MF and STL exports of designs with two or more panels or frames.

File names are plain lowercase ASCII, so they work on every operating system and printer.

License information

The README and the 3MF metadata of each export include a license line: the license of your tier on the day you exported. See Licenses.
