Account and invites

My invite code isn’t accepted

Copy and paste it from the email if you can. Case, dashes and spaces don’t matter, and O / I / L are read as 0 / 1. If the app says too many attempts, wait about 15 minutes. Expired or already used codes need support — see When a code is not accepted.

I never received the confirmation email

Check your spam folder, then use Resend email. Links expire and work once; if you already confirmed, just sign in. If you mistyped your address, contact support: the code is already attached to that account and we can release it.

Can I move up to a higher tier later?

Yes. Redeem a higher-tier code in Account → Redeem an upgrade code. It takes effect immediately and your projects stay as they are.

Can I use Pegboard Maker on a tablet or phone?

It is built for desktop and laptop browsers. Your account, projects and dashboard work on small screens, but designing is far more comfortable with a mouse and a large display.

Designing

Which workflow should I start with?

For a feature wall of tiles, Shaped panels. For a wall of pegboard, Infinite pegboard. For a shape or a logo, SVG → pegboard; for names and words, Text → pegboard. See What is Pegboard Maker?.

Why are some holes missing near edges or seams?

Every hole keeps a solid edge margin (4 mm by default) from edges, seams and frame shelves; only along the narrow straight seams of the Straight seam shape does the corridor between hole rows set a thinner wall (about 2.5 mm on the capsule system, see Slicing into pieces). A hole that would come closer is left out entirely — Pegboard Maker never cuts a hole in half. Wall anchors and separators don’t cost holes: they sit in the gaps between holes, clear of where hooks reach behind the board. Only a Custom type whose holes leave no free spot at all makes anchors remove holes, and the app tells you when it does.

A tile or piece is “too big for the bed”

Check the bed size and margin first. Then allow 90° rotation, lower the margin slightly, pick a smaller tile edge, or switch from puzzle joints (their tabs add size) to spline strips.

Can I mix pegboard types on one wall?

On different boards, yes — but accessories only fit the pegboard type they were made for. Never mix 25 mm and 25.4 mm grids where an accessory spans several holes. See Pegboard types and compatibility.

How thick should my board be?

The pegboard type decides: the app uses the thickness of the boards the type’s hooks are made for. The capsule system is always 5 mm, US 1/4″ 6.35 mm and US 1/8″ 3.18 mm. EU 5/25 comes in 6 mm, the standard for workshops, garages and heavier tools, or 3 mm for light organisation, displays and cabinet backs. Only the Custom type lets you set any thickness. See Standards at a glance.

Printing and slicers

Bambu Studio says “The 3mf file has invalid config, load geometry data only”

That’s expected for any 3MF not saved by Bambu Studio itself. Press OK: part names and filament assignments are kept, and your own printer settings are used.

All parts ended up on the same filament

The file was probably opened as a project and filaments were then added one at a time, which resets parts assigned to slots that didn’t exist yet. Delete the objects and load the file again with File → Import (Ctrl + I), which creates the slots for you. See Multi-colour and slicer import.

The colours in my slicer aren’t my colours

Slicers choose their own display colours for new filament slots. Set each slot to the colour and material in the README’s filament table.

PrusaSlicer shows one part, or the pieces float at odd heights

Use the 3MF · PrusaSlicer export, not the Bambu Studio / OrcaSlicer file, and select a multi-material printer profile before importing. For STL files, load all files of a piece together and answer Yes when asked to load them as one object with multiple parts.

Accessory clips are hard to press in, or fall out of the accessory

Change the Clip fit in the accessory configurator and reprint what it names:

  • Crush ribs: too hard to press, reprint the clips Loose (or shave the rib crests with a craft knife); sliding in freely, reprint them Tight, or glue them with a pin-head of gel CA (PLA) or thin epoxy (PETG).
  • Back slot + glue: the glue holds the clips for good; if a clip rattles in its slot before gluing, reprint the clips Tight, and if it won’t seat, Loose. Use gel CA for PLA and 2-part epoxy for PETG.
  • Filament pin: if the pin won’t go through the clip, reprint the clips and the body Loose; if it rattles, Tight. A drop of hot glue or gel CA behind each pin keeps it in.

See Clip fit.

Hooks are too tight in a printed board, or wobble

Tune the board’s hole clearance in 0.1 mm steps: up if tight, down if loose. Print a small coupon to check — Calibration and test prints. If you printed a board with a negative clearance and make accessories for it on a Custom type, enter its holes at the printed size — see Made for your pegboard type.

Hole edges on the front look pinched

The first layer is the front face, so first-layer squish shows. Raise your Z offset slightly, enable elephant foot compensation (0.1–0.2 mm) or increase the front chamfer.

Corners lift or pieces warp

Clean the build plate, dry your filament, add an outer brim only (and add its width to the bed margin in the app), and let big pieces cool on the plate. PETG and ASA benefit from an enclosure or a draft-free room.

The base colour shows through an inlay

Light colours over a dark base need more material: set the inlay depth to 0.8 mm (four 0.2 mm layers).

Mounting

Which screws and plugs do I need?

For masonry: 4 × 45 mm countersunk screws with 6 mm plugs, in Ø 6 mm holes at least 40 mm deep. For drywall, studs or cavity anchors. See the mounting guide.

How many screws does my board need?

As few as the load allows. With the default Automatic (by load) placement the anchors of all pieces share a few horizontal rows, spaced for the expected load and the wall material you choose in the Mounting tab — the default 1200 × 800 mm board hangs on 24 screws in 4 rows. Switch off At least one anchor per piece and the glued strips between the pieces let it hang on 12. The Summary tab shows the anchors’ capacity against the design load, and the Plan view’s drilling guide gives every row’s height and every screw’s position. See Where the anchors go.

Can I choose where the screws go, for example on the studs?

Yes. In the Mounting tab, Fixed grid places exactly the number of rows and screws per row you choose, and Manual lets you click every anchor into place in the Plan view — on studs, on a batten or away from pipes. Each anchor snaps to the nearest spot that doesn’t cost a hole; the app tells you if one can’t be used and why, and checks that your anchors carry the load. See Manual.

My hooks don’t fit behind the board

The standoff is too small for them. Picking a pegboard type sets its recommended standoff — 10 mm on the capsule system, 12.7 mm (½″) on round-hole boards — so a design that still doesn’t fit was probably set lower by hand. Raise the Wall distance in the Wall separators settings (twist-lock nuts and metal accessories on the capsule system like 15–20 mm) and re-export. See Standoff.

I can see the seams between pieces

Seams remain as fine lines. Make sure pieces are glued flush on a flat surface, print on a textured plate, and consider a border or hole rings in a contrasting colour — they draw the eye away from seams.

The board isn’t flat on the wall

Walls are rarely flat. Don’t overtighten the mounts — stop when the screw head seats — and put a thin shim behind any separator that doesn’t touch the wall.

Exports and licenses

What counts as an export, and when does my quota reset?

One successful download of 3MF, STL (on its own or as a ZIP) or SVG cutting outlines from the export dialog. The SVG · assembly map with the drilling guide is free. Quotas reset on the 1st of each month at 00:00 UTC. Designing is unlimited, and you can keep up to 500 saved projects. See Exports and quotas.

Can I sell what I print?

On Commercial and Commercial Plus, yes: you may sell physical prints. Commercial Plus also lets you sell the STL/3MF files of designs made with the workflows. Accessory files may never be sold or shared. See Licenses.
