Getting started

The editor: panels, selection and shortcuts

How the design editor is laid out — the settings and details rails, the Selection tab, the 3D, Plan and Print views, and every keyboard shortcut.

Every workflow opens in the same editor. The design is in the middle; its settings and details sit in two side panels, each driven by a navigation rail of icon-and-label tabs on the outer edge of the window.

Layout

  • Top bar — back to your projects, the project name (click to rename), Undo and Redo, the save status, your remaining exports and Export.
  • Left rail: settings. The settings of the workflow, grouped by task. The first tab is always Selection (see below); the others depend on the workflow.
  • Viewport — the design in one of three views, with zoom and fit buttons.
  • Right rail: design details. Pieces, Issues, Summary and View.
  • Status bar — what the geometry engine is doing, and the keyboard shortcuts (keyboard icon).
Workflow Settings tabs after Selection
Shaped panels Tiles · Frame · Board · Colours · Bed · Mounting
Infinite pegboard Wall · Graphics · Board · Colours · Slicing · Mounting
SVG → pegboard Artwork · Board · Colours · Slicing · Mounting
Text → pegboard Text · Board · Colours · Slicing · Mounting

The Board tab (Pegboard type & panel) is where you choose the pegboard type and set up the panel itself.

Click a tab to open its panel; click the active tab again to hide the panel and give the viewport more room. The editor remembers the open tabs of each workflow in your browser. On narrower windows (below 1360 px) the right panel floats over the viewport and starts hidden; below 900 px the rails turn into tab bars inside bottom sheets, opened from the status bar (Settings, Details and Selection).

The Selection tab

The Selection tab shows whatever you selected in the 3D or Plan view — a piece, a shaped-panel tile, a graphic or a wall anchor:

  • Nothing selected: the tab is greyed out and can’t be opened.
  • You select something: the Selection tab opens by itself.
  • You clear the selection (Esc, or clicking empty space): the tab you had open before comes back.
  • You switch to another tab by hand: the selection stays, so you can change a setting and come back to it.

For a piece it shows its size on the bed, quantity, print plate, holes, wall anchors, separators, keyholes or hubs, the filament it needs and its parts and colours. For a tile it shows the tile’s type (Pegboard, Solid or Insert), colour and artwork; for a graphic, its text or artwork, size, position, rotation and colours. The actions below let you zoom to it, show it in Print view, export only this piece or tile, or clear the selection.

For a wall anchor it shows its distance from the left edge and from the bottom edge (and from the top edge too, when the drilling guide measures from the top), its level row, its piece, the screw boss and whether the app could use it — with the reason when it can’t. An anchor you placed in Manual mode can be deleted or zoomed to from here. Anchors placed by Automatic or Fixed grid mode are read-only: Switch to manual to edit copies the whole layout into manual anchors and keeps the same anchor selected. See Where the anchors go.

Views

View Key What it shows
3D 1 The assembled design. Drag to orbit, right-drag to pan, scroll to zoom. The Exploded view slider (View tab) pulls the pieces apart.
Plan 2 The front, to scale: holes, seams, anchors and separators, labels and dimensions. Click to select, drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom. Shaped panels: click a + to add a tile. Graphics can be dragged, scaled and rotated here. With anchors, the drilling guide shows every anchor row as a level line — see the mounting guide. With Manual anchor placement, click the board to add a wall anchor and drag it to move it — see Manual.
Print 3 The pieces laid out on your print bed, plate by plate, front face down.

The View tab turns the Plan and Print layers on and off (holes, seams, mounts & separators, piece labels, dimensions), switches the drilling guide and chooses whether its heights are measured from the bottom or the top edge.

Details: pieces, issues and summary

  • Pieces — every printable piece, grouped by kind, with its size and whether it fits your bed. Click one to select it and frame it in the view.
  • Issues — warnings and errors from the geometry engine, errors first; the rail shows their count. Click an issue that names a piece or tile to select it.
  • Summary — pieces, holes, size, estimated filament and plates. Boards with wall anchors also show the wall mounting card: the placement mode, anchors, level rows, wall material and the design load against the anchors’ capacity.

Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcut What it does
Ctrl + Z (⌘ + Z) Undo
Ctrl + Shift + Z (⌘ + ⇧ + Z) or Ctrl + Y Redo
Ctrl + S (⌘ + S) Save now
Ctrl + E (⌘ + E) Export
1 · 2 · 3 3D, Plan or Print view
Alt + 1 … Alt + 7 (⌥ on a Mac) Open a settings tab in rail order (Alt + 1 is Selection); again hides the panel
F Fit the design to the view
Esc Clear the selection
Del or Backspace Remove the selected tile, graphic or manual wall anchor
← ↑ → ↓ In the Plan view, nudge the selected graphic by 1 mm (Shift: 10 mm), or move the selected manual anchor one spot (Shift: five spots)
Hold Alt while dragging Move or rotate a graphic without snapping

Shortcuts don’t fire while you are typing in a field, and Esc that closes a dialog or menu doesn’t clear your selection. Number fields accept arithmetic (type 120+20), change by one step with the arrow keys, by ten with Shift and by a tenth with Alt; Esc reverts a value you are typing.
